American Sailing gives your learning a structure. We bring it to life on Howe Sound through practical instruction, questions and time at the helm.

You work towards demonstrating the skills on the water as well as completing a written assessment. Your instructor can identify where further practice would help.

These are keelboat learning courses, not a promise of worldwide charter access. Charter plans may call for further training, documented experience and destination-specific credentials. American Sailing’s International Proficiency Certificate requires at least ASA 101, 103 and 104. Confirm the requirements with your chosen charter operator before planning a trip.
