Payment: Full payment required to reserve a spot.

Cancellation:

  • Cancel 14+ days before start date: full refund minus processing fees
  • Cancel 7–13 days before: 50% refund
  • Cancel 0–6 days before: no refund (spot is held and staffing is committed)

Rescheduling: If space allows, we’ll do our best to move students to another week.

Weather: Weather-related program adjustments are part of sailing. Refunds are not issued for weather-based modifications.

Safety: We reserve the right to remove a participant for unsafe behavior.

A Sailing Social gives you a chance to try sailing in a small group. Your instructor guides the session, with time to get involved, ask questions and enjoy being out on the sound.

Join a group of up to three guests and your instructor. Come on your own or book with a friend.

Have a go.

Try steering and trimming the sails with guidance from your instructor. Learn through practical time on the boat.

Enjoy the sail.

Spend a couple of hours exploring sailing on Howe Sound, sharing the experience with your crew.

Before you head out

A little preparation goes a long way.

Choose your date in the booking calendar. If you have questions about joining, meeting details or what to bring, get in touch before your session.

Can I join with no experience?

Yes. Sailing Socials are an introduction to sailing, with an instructor there to guide you.

Will I get to sail the boat?

The session is hands-on, with opportunities to try steering and trimming the sails. Your instructor will guide participation around the conditions on the day.

Can I come on my own?

Yes. You can book a place and join other guests. Each session has up to three guests with an instructor.

When do Sailing Socials run?

Check the booking calendar for current dates and availability. The schedule varies through the season.

What should I bring?

Wear warm layers and bring a waterproof jacket, non-marking footwear, sun protection and drinking water. Conditions on the water can feel cooler than on shore.

Is this an ASA course?

No. This is a social introduction to sailing. If you’d like a structured course and certification, explore our ASA sailing school. Private coaching is another option for focused practice.
